Websites, Google & social media · Annecy & Haute-Savoie

Marking the trail to your customers.

Your customers are searching for you. They're finding your competitors.

When someone searches "restaurant Annecy" on Google, or asks ChatGPT where to find a plumber, only a handful of businesses get named. I make you one of them: a website that makes people call, a Google profile that’s right, reviews and social media that stay active, and ongoing support so it lasts.

Why "Le Baliseur"? In the Alps, a baliseur is the person who paints the trail markers that keep hikers on the right path. In French, a balise is also an HTML tag, the building block of every website. Clear markers, online and on the map, leading customers to your door: that's the job.

Designed for phones first, fast, and built to be clearly understood by Google and AI tools. Three examples for local businesses:

On Google, the top three take almost everything.

  1. 1The place across the street★ 4.8
  2. 2A national chain★ 4.4
  3. 3A competitor★ 4.6
  4. Most customers stop here
  5. 4Your business★ 4.7
  6. 5…
  7. 6…

For local searches, Google shows a map with three businesses. Most customers stop there. The others exist, but nobody sees them.

And search is changing: more and more people simply ask an AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google's AI Mode). It names two or three businesses, picked from the same signals: listings, reviews, directories and a clear website.

What keeps you out is often simple: an incomplete Google profile, wrong opening hours, few recent reviews, or a website that's slow or hard to read on a phone.

  • Incomplete profile
  • Inconsistent address
  • Few reviews
  • Dated website

Where you show up, street by street

Google doesn't rank a business the same way everywhere: it depends on where the search comes from. The audit measures your position from dozens of points around you, for your main search term.

Each dot shows your rank on the Google map when someone searches from that spot. Green means you're in the top three, so people see you.

Three steps, one person to deal with

The audit · free

I compare your presence on Google and in AI answers and on social media with three direct competitors. You get the problems I find and three quick wins, with a mock-up when it helps.

The plan

I come and present a clear plan and one price. No website if that isn't your problem: we start with what pays off fastest.

The follow-up

Posts, reviews, updates, and a monthly check on your calls, direction requests and visits. Results are measured, and we look at them together.

I come and see you

A remote agency sees your business through a screen. I come in person: I see your shopfront, your customers, your street. That's how the right decisions get made for your business.

  • A meeting at your place, or the café next door, to go through the audit. At no cost.
  • Decisions made together, face to face, not in a quote sent by email.
  • I know Annecy, its neighbourhoods and its seasons: the summer rush, winter in the resorts, the Christmas markets.
  • One person to deal with, someone you might bump into in town.

Chris Elston, founder of Le Baliseur

Chris Elston, le baliseur

For more than twenty years I've worked with tour operators, moving travellers between Geneva and Grenoble airports and the Alpine resorts: up to 10,000 people a week in season. I led the growth and development of the business there, building long-term relationships with tour operators. I know what makes a business grow, and what holds it back.

Before that, in England, I started out in marketing: I planned and sold advertising campaigns in the business press, for clients ranging from small business owners to the managing directors of groups like Hewlett Packard and Nissan.

On the digital side, I have a diploma in information technology: I've built websites and apps and run their marketing. I've worked with Google for 26 years, I know SEO inside out, and I use AI tools every day to work fast without cutting corners. I also handle visual design.

Today I'm putting all of that experience to work for small businesses and independents: my understanding of hospitality, of service businesses, and of how a business develops and grows. The aim is simple: to help you succeed, with clear steps, deadlines met and results measured.

I live in Annecy-le-Vieux and work in English and French.
